I’ll be leading a photo workshop there in November, so I’m hoping corporate America has left some of the buildings standing. Last time I looked, a magnificent old laundry processing building had turned into a huge Target store, complete with ocean views of the Pacific, except it didn’t have any windows!

I have lived in Xela for 8 years and both of these Guatemalan attributes have confused and not a little bothered me for years. I love the tradional dances performed at ferias here and usually plan my vacations around some municipio's feria. I have been to Momo's feria before and it is great. Very real and not touristy. Do you have schedule of the feria or know where one is? I want to go on July 25,26, or 27 to see tradional dance but don't know which day would be better.
