The Room For Rent

I’m looking for a housemate for the 2nd bedroom in an architecturally beautiful, very roomy 2 bedroom 1 bath 1930’s Spanish style apartment – approximately 1200 square feet from front to back of beautifully landscaped 4 unit building – located in Mid-City on a quiet street with plenty of parking. The room is available now,  with a pro-rated january rent. I will consider various lease options, short or long-term.

The unit is an incredibly spacious 1200 Square feet, with tons of beautiful natural light coming through all the windows. The building is remodeled with all original architectural elements intact. Real Hardwood floors throughout, 9′ ceilings, recessed lighting, ceiling fans, generous closet space There is a large living room at the front of the unit, with lovingly restored tile around the fire place. The living room leads into a large dining room, with some nice built-in cabinetry. Completely remodeled kitchen with black granite counter tops includes stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal and lots of cabinets. The unit has its own WASHER & DRYER in a dedicated laundry room. There is a long hallway which, in addition to providing ample privacy between the rooms, also includes storage closets, plus a linen closet, with plenty of closet space in the large-sized bedroom as well. The Bathroom includes pedestal sink, tub and separate shower. And don’t forget the Beautifully landscaped gardens front and back.
Ample garage storage is available in the one-car garage included with the unit. Water and a gardener for the landscaping are also included.

Rent is $895

I am a late 20’s Computer Consultant and Teacher. I’m also a DJ (though I DO NOT make much noise at the house) and Photographer and its important that I split my time between my professional and creative pursuits. I’ve been in love with the Mid-City neighborhoods ever since moving back – and am very excited to have found this house! Its in a great place, near good restaurants and shops on Pico, Washington and Adams, close to Culver City, the Grove, LACMA, USC, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, near the 10 freeway and central to the whole city. I’m looking to keep a clean and respectful house and look forward to finding someone who wants the same!

I’m ideally looking for someone mid-20s to mid-30s, professional or student, who wants a nice home to enjoy, can pay their rent on time, does their dishes and is low-drama. Men or Women are fine.
Write me an email or give me a call to let me know about yourself – I’m looking forward to hearing more.
Thanks.

Taken at the Bowtie Parcel, Los Angeles River. June 2009.

This parcel borders the river, and is the only part of the river with a natural bottom. Apparently the Corps of Engineers couldn’t get the concrete to settle here – the river was too wild! Also on the parcel are lots of dead palm trees, and assorted ephemera that seem to be left over from the Red Car days.
